In 2018, two of the western horse industry's most novel companies are set to merge when Western Horseman and Tootie Dull's Road to the Horse join forces to form a powerful advocacy group for natural horsemanship training and practice.
“Western Horseman has been an integral part of the success of Road to the Horse,” said creator Tootie Dull. “They have told our story, shared our dreams and helped us achieve our goal of sharing the message of natural horsemanship with hundreds of thousands of horse lovers. This partnership will only serve to further realize those dreams – helping horse owners learn and understand the best methods to build a true relationship with their horse.”
Road to the Horse has been dedicated to educating horse owners and equestrian enthusiasts around the world since 2003. The focus of the annual event continues to be to demonstrate a better partnership between horse and rider through natural horsemanship.
Morris Media Network, the parent company of Western Horseman, wanted to strengthen its events platform and this was a perfect opportunity.
“The Morris family has been a champion of the Western lifestyle for generations,” said Billy Morris, Chairman of Morris Media Network. “Seventeen years ago, we acquired the highly respected Western Horseman brand, which has been a voice for the horse and the Western lifestyle since 1936. By partnering with Road to the Horse, we are now even more committed to keeping our Western heritage and associated values alive.”
Fans at Road to the Horse will follow the competition as it unfolds and witness a lifetime of passion and knowledge put to the test as elite clinicians from around the world compete for the coveted title of World Colt Starting Championship. The 2018 competition, held March 23-25 in Lexington, Kentucky, will feature four previous Road to the Horse World Champions, each representing a different country.
Fresh Zealand international showjumper and 2017 Road to the Horse World Champion Vicki Wilson is the only woman in the field and will defend her title. Canada will be represented by Jim Anderson, who was both the 2014 Road to the Horse World Champion and Wildcard Champion. Australian rider Dan James is known for his impressive liberty performances and for winning the 2012 Road to the Horse title. American representative Nick Dowers is a cowboy of many talents and has won world titles with his Buckle Case at both the National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity Open and the 2016 Road to the Horse.
