The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum will host legendary wrangler John Scott on Friday, May 16.
With over 50 years in the industry and hundreds of film and television credits, the world-renowned movie wrangler, stunt coordinator and animal trainer has dedicated his career to preparing humans and horses to create magic on set.
John rarely makes an appearance on screen, but his work can be admired through the riding skills of actors in iconic movies and television shows that include “Legends of the Fall,” “Shanghai Noon,” “Night at the Museum,” “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “Heartland” and “Unforgiven.”
Largely responsible for building the film industry in western Canada, John runs the Scott Ranch in Alberta, which was established by his grandfather in 1904. In addition to being a working cattle ranch, Scott Ranch has been transformed by John into a one-stop shop for filmmakers, offering wagons, props, a frontier town and, most importantly, nearly 100 highly trained horse actors and stunt performers.
From Set to Saddle with John Scott is generously supported by AgTexas Farm Credit Services and starts at 6:30 p.m. on May 16 at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. Tickets for the event are $25; delicate hors d’oeuvres and refreshments are included with ticket purchase.
