She did it! Bronte again in the circle of the winner

The juvenile Tasmanian cable tree separator Bronte Miller probably had the biggest smile at the Hobart meeting last Friday evening (April 4) after a more excited and emotional return to the circle of the winner.

Miller, 20, drove, he becomes Pike (heHeston Blue Chip) For a popular victory in the Ladbrokes Racing Club Tempo – your first victory in two years and three months and the 67th of her career.

“It was a bit incredulous, but I was so relieved and absolutely overjoyed,” said Miller.

“I assume I have proven to myself and everyone else that I can still do it.”

Miller was one of the passengers who were involved in a terrible street accident on January 30, 2023, as a vehicle that dragged a loaded four-horse swimmer, crashed from the races in Rowella north of Launceston.

The leading female driver of the state in the 2022 season spent two and a half weeks in the hospital with injuries such as a broken left hip, a contorted right hip and a broken right foot and a broken hand. Miller was lucky enough to keep 100 percent views in her left eye, but she has hardly anything in the right.

Miller underwent a number of operations and long rehabilitation, but returned to the race in December last year.

With her visual impairment, Miller had to adapt to the race, but follows other leading drivers, including SA Reinswoman Dani Hill and the Victorian legend of the overdue Ian McCallum, who was successful despite seeing in just one eye.

“Obviously I had no choice because I would never return on the track!” she said.

“I would like to push myself back into all of my rehabilitation stands. But it is amazing how the body adapts and my judgment about range is really good.”

Miller's comeback was hindered in mid -February when she broke her ankle, and her victory was back on her first trip after this setback.

But Miller said she had her doubts after she had come out of the goal tough and was caught at the death seat on Will Hir Pike.

“I thought it would not be good '! But later when the leader was driven home, I knew that my horse had more to give. It was only my third trip with him, but he is a attractive guy and I always had a weakness for him,” she said.

“He was trained by Tammy Langley, who gave me many options for which I am so grateful. From attempts to racing trips, Tammy and my father secured me all the way.

“I also have to thank Bianca Heenan and her partner Nathan Ford, who are the owners of Will He Pike who have been there for me since the day. I am basically part of your family – I often joke that I am your adoptive child.”
