John Sargent will return to Australia by the National Yearling Sale of Modern Zealand Bloodstock with the half-sister of his successful Stutfohls Powers of Opal in Group 1 after securing $ 335 for $ 700,000.
Sargent spent $ 130,000 for the purchase of Powers of Opal when selling in 2023 from the draft of Curraghhor, the daughter of Ocean Park, who later secondly in the GR.2 Wakeful Stakes (2000 m) and GR.1 VRC Oaks (2500 m).
Curraghhor presented her younger half -sister from Proisir from Strada Cavallo, who won operations at the Modern Zealand 1000 Guineas and Modern Zealand Oaks (2400 m) and took one place in the group. The daughter of Alamosa also produced the racing winners Dajieda and Khufu
There was great interest in the stut foal, whereby the coach Sargent, based in Sydney, and the bloodstock agent Duncan Ramage were the successful bidders who merged with spicer Thoroughbred.
“She is identical to Powers of Opal,” said Sargent.

“Probably she will need a little more time to look at her, she is a behind schedule foal, but we think at Powers of Opal that hopefully you will have a very good autumn and will attach even more value to this stuff.”
“She will probably go to Curraghmer for a few months to get over it, then she will be broken into here and comes across (to Australia).
Ramage can look back on an impressive track record when choosing high -quality yearlings in Karaka and was cheerful to win the stut foal.
“She (Lot 335) is a particularly athletic mare, she sees Powers of Opal very similar,” said Ramage. “We know that this stut foal has a residual value.
“I only say it for the protocol: the last time we bought a foal for $ 700,000, was first Seal, so hopefully she can step into her footsteps.”
