Sandman has a change in the plans, will enter prevention

Entering sandman in the checkness? Yes, indeed.

In a post on X on Saturday, May 10th, the Preakness Stakes announced that the winner of Arkansa's Derby and the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Seventh Place-Finisher Sandman in the 150th run of the Preakness Stakes on May 17th in Pimlico.

“We wanted to see how he came back. He is currently a very cheerful horse. It looks like the race could be well erected for him. It looks like there is a lot of speed,” said coach Mark Casse. “I always quote all jerks, 'run' if they are good and it is just good. We plan to wait for the Belmont, but many things can happen in between. He tells us that he will be cheerful, so we'll go with it.”

The news was confirmed in a quote by Jon Green from DJ Stables, co -owner of Sandman.

“Sandman came from the Kentucky derby in an excellent form. For this reason, Mark Casse and the partners decided to lead Sandman in the 150th BRAKESS OFFERS. We are confident that we will deal with the skills of the Colt and look forward to participating this weekend.”

The field for the preakness of 2025 has been in a state of the river since became known that the winner of the Kentucky Derby, the sovereignty, will not run in the second jewel of the Triple Crown and instead pointed to Belmont Stakes. Clever went out again to achieve a routine gallop on Saturday in Churchill Downs to prepare for his first appearance in the prevention of his first appearance in prevalance. The Hall of Fame coach Steve Asmussen plans to work half a mile sticky on Monday and send it to Baltimore on Tuesday.

Clever was away from the races for 10 months after taking second place in a 4 1/2 furlong race at the Keeland 2024 Spring Meet. He returned to win a 1 1/16 mile registration race in the Oaklawn Park, followed by a four-length victory in the 200,000 dollar Heated Springs Stakes at a two-gymnastics mile.

“He had a few problems and had to take some time,” said co -owner Ron Winchell in front of the Kentucky Derby. “We let horses tell us when they are ready to come back.

“We are quite confident that he can carry his speed far away,” added Winchell. “He is very professional. He behaves like a horse that just wants to do it. Mentally, he is great. Physically, it makes him great and they think he comes to his own.”

Pay Billy returned to the route two days after his last breeze for the prevention in Delaware Park. Raul Mena is named to ride Pay Billy, who is supposed to send to Pimlico on Tuesday.

“He galloped today and galloped,” said coach Mike Gorham. “Everything looks good. He did everything right, well cooled. We are pretty much on the goal.”
