Zac Purton broke Douglas Whytes victory record in Hong Kong from 1,813 after meeting on Wednesday evening in Cheerful Valley.
Purton was on board Spirit of Peace (from) (Harry Angel {IRE}) in Class 4 Kowloon Park Handicap over 1200 meters, the third race on the map, where he set Whytes record. In the final on Wednesday, the Class 3 Victoria Park Handicap, the Australian was eliminated View of the world (Modern Zealand) (Derryn {from}) home to enhance his all-Sieg record on the island to 1,814 and to break the record completely.
Whyte, a multiple champion jockey in Hong Kong, retired in 2019. Purton, who moved to Hong Kong in 2007, only needed 73 wins to achieve Whytes record at the beginning of the Hong Kong season 2024/2025.
