Museum mile swept by the favorite, previously unbeaten NordkreuzIn the final steps to win the Satsuki Sho (Japanese two thousand Guineen, G1) to 1 1/2 lengths on April 20 on the Nakayama racing route.
The first stage of the Japanese triple crown was the first win of the first class for the Leontes Foal. For Jockey João Moreira it was his victory in third grade 1 in four weeks when he drove in Japan with a momentary license.
Nordkreuz, a son of Kitasan Black Seemed to be good on the first start at his first start as a 3-year-old and went over from a stalking position when the field resolved the route for the second time.
However, he had no answer when Mile brought Mile to his outside near the winning post and lost the ground on both Masquerade Ball And Giovanni at the finish. Museum Mile ended the 2,000 meters (approx. 1 1/4 miles) in the racing record time of 1: 57.0 on a good to solid lawn.
The difference could be due to the relative planning of the colts. Museum Mile, Masquerade Ball and Giovanni each had a previous start this season, while Croix du Nord won the same course and distance for the first time since winning the hopeful missions (G1) on December 28th.
Museum Mile ended his 2-year season with a second in the Asahi Hai Futurity (G1) and in 2025 welcomed fourth place in the Yayoi Sho Deep Impact Kinen (G2) on March 9.
Trainer Daisuke Takayanagi said before the Satsuki -sho -Sho that Museum Mile “was better and improved for his last race”.

Moreira said he had the feeling that Museum Mile was prepared for a top effort.
“When I was sitting on him this afternoon, I could have the feeling that he was something very special,” said Moreira. “He has a very nice body and temperament. I thought this could be the horse to win.
“When we turned home, we were a bit unbalanced, maybe because the ground was not so silky. But when I got it on the track, he only ran home, and when he took the lead at 150 meters, he ran away and showed me again and again that he was so much ability.”
The Satsuki Sho states the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese derby, G1) on June 1st on the Tokyo RaceCourse. The triple crown ends with the Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger, G1) on October 26th in the Kyoto racing route.
The Satsuki Sho itself has been an astonishing producer of Champions with nine winners since 2005. The list contains some of the most revered names of Japan, including 2005 winners Deep effect The leading son of Sunday sweatwho swept the triple crown and became a breeding father.
Museum Mile has a long way to correspond to these achievements, but Moreira's evaluation was positive.
“I think he has a lot more to give,” he said.
Moreira's achievement – only a week earlier with the Satsuki Sho, the Oka Sho (Japanese -Antamen -Guineen, G1) and the Tagamatsunomiya Kinen (G1) ago – was remarkable in his own way.
The “Magic Man” left Hong Kong in 2018 after winning the jockey championship in three of his five seasons and requested a license for full-time in Japan. His application was reportedly rejected after not passing a written test – the first step in a strict to protect the local interests.

Moreira is currently traveling to gigantic racing meetings around the world, where he is in demand, among other things, of Japanese compounds. He will be hopeful before Japanese Luxor Cafe In May on May 3rd Kentucky Derby (G1) Churchill Downs.
