The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB) have announced the finalists for the 2024 Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in thoroughbred racing over the past year. Winners in 17 equine and human categories will be announced during the event on FanDuel TV and other networks 54th Annual Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards, presented by John Deere, Keeneland and The Jockey Club, on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m. AND. The evening ends with the announcement of the Horse of the Year 2024.

Of the 240 voters represented by the NTRA, comprised of track officials and Equibase field staff, the NTWAB and Daily Racing Form, 208 (87%) participated in the vote. Finalists were determined in each category based on the top three vote-getters based on a score of 10-5-1. The winners of the Eclipse Award are determined exclusively by voting from the first place winners.

Canada's queen of racing, MOIRA (Ghostzapper), is a finalist for Champion Turf Female thanks to her thrilling victory in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (GF1) at Del Mar in November. This year Moira also won the Beverly D Stakes (G2) and was second in the Grade 1 Diana and EP Taylor Stakes.

Moira, trained by Kevin Attard and bred by Adena Springs, faces Cinderella's Dream, who finished second in the Breeders' Cup to Canadian star and three-year-old filly She Feels Pretty, with whom she finished the year with two Grade 1 wins in the American Oaks and the Queen Elizabeth II Cup.

Previous Canadian-born Eclipse Award winners include CHANNEL MAKER (2020). JUDY THE BEAUTY (2014), MARYFIELD (2007) and greats like DANCE SMARTLY, CHIEF BEARHART, NORTHERN DANCER and LA PREVOYANTE.

Male turf horse: Carl Spackler (IRE), Johannes, Rebel's Romance (IRE)

Female turf horse: Cinderella's Dream (GB), MoiraShe feels pretty
