Lucrative walk for coach Ron Stubbs am Albury Cup Day (Thursday)

By Mark Brassel

Albury coach Ron Stubbs will be a busy man on Thursday, although he will only walk across the street to the race track.

Stubbs, one of the leading trainers of Riverina, has around 30 horses in the works and will probably be represented by up to nine runners on Thursday Albury Gold Cup Day.

The meeting was postponed three weeks ago and his considerable team is Bianco Vilano, who will contest the 200,000 US dollar Commercial Club Gold Cup of $ 200,000 (2000 m).

In November, the event is a qualified race for the 3 million US dollar Large Dance (1600 m) at Royal Randwick.

Bianco Vilano is in a top shape after he has achieved a last start victory over 1600 million on the Warwick Farm when he is well supported by $ 8 in US dollars.

“He traveled well in the run and then ended very strongly to win this race,” said Stubbs.

“This will be his first information beyond this distance beyond the 2000 m of the cup, but it has traveled well and looks as if it were managing the additional distance, although there is always the question mark.”

The top Victorian jockey Harry Coffey, who drove 1261 winners, will be on board the gelding in the cup.

Stubbs will probably have four runners in the 45,000 dollar -Naughhin development group Flat Knacker (900 m), which is led by Sparring, who won the race last year.

“We looked at a race in Sydney a few weeks ago, but the route was too saturated, which it did not fail.

“He ticks nicely and tested well in almost darkness in Gundagai – they hadn't wanted to have wanted someone that they hadn't seen them.

“Brial rose is in the flat cracker and in class 2, but we have not decided in which way we are going.

“In January, many rumors broke off in Wagga in January and runs well after a nice run on the Warwick Farm First-Up. Tap 'n' Run has had no start for three months. He had a few minor problems and we could only wait a week or so.”

Stubbs has three horses for the 50,000 dollar -Tonkin group Super Maiden (1175 m), an Inglis Xtra Maiden who has another bonus of $ 100,000 when the winner is an Inglis graduate and is paid for the Inglis racing series.

“Sharp As Grace ran a good second when they were resumed, and the winner has won again since then. We are really satisfied with her and she has a future.

“I can't accuse Sargeant Stan, but he was a little disappointing when he last hit. He is better than that and we took off the indicators.

“He is physically well, but I don't mentally believe that he is not there yet and we will see the best of him as the next preparation.

“Treirway recently had his first run for the stable when he introduced himself to win, but just knocked it away and will be better for the run.”

In the meantime, Back o 'Bourke Picnic Race Club should organize his annual racing seat on Easter Sunday.

“This year is a special milestone because the club is celebrating a decade since he brought the races back to Bourke,” said Sarah Barton, the club's secretary.

“It is Bourke's largest social event, and the race is a highlight of the Back O 'Bourke Easter Festival, which brings together the community for a weekend full of family -friendly activities.

“The highlight is the prestigious Harry Hart Memorial Cup, the pride of Rices Back O 'Bourke Cordials with jockeys and trainers who benefit from generous incentive payments.

“The club has won a comprehensive experience with a fully equipped bar, tab and betting facilities, a jumping castle for the little ones and a courtesy bus.

“The always popular fashion on the field will give the day a touch of glamor, with the celebrations continued with live entertainment of 'Crank', which will keep the party into operation until night.”
