The 22-year-old spends five weeks in the Up-to-date Jersey Stables of the leading trainer Ron Burke.

But his first success came on an external trip for the NJ coach Michael Posner when he Select Friday (Friday (Rockin picture) for victory in the last race in the Meadowlands earlier (April 25).

The talented juvenile driver had second place on the outcry for Billy Dubois (race 7) and for Burke on Lexus Kody (race 6) and appears with the race in American style.

“The race is chalk and cheese at home. They are high intensity, every race and so aggressive races,” said Herbertson.

“Meadowlands is huge and a spectacle to see, it's just great to finally get on the board – it was a relief!” he said.

Select Friday has settled again in the field, but in the classic Herbertson style the chance of 16/1 was in the route with a blowy run to score comfortably.

Choose Fridays Repetition

Herbertson clearly enjoys the heated and inviting culture and the challenge of transferring into his novel environment.

“You have a lot of horses at work in the stable and I just drive pretty much work. They brought me to 600,000 horses to 60,000 horses. Fortunately, they trust them enough,” he said.

“The bicycles are obviously wider, but the angle is much steeper and exerts much more pressure on your body when the horse rises from the bridle.

“I didn't have to carry out any exams, but unlike Australia, every state has its own license, so that you receive and keep playing the license in every state!

“I stay here with (former Australian coaching driver) Brad Chisholm, and that was great. Brad works for the Hall of Famer Joe Campbell on the Gaitway Farm and he has been here for a little more than three years. He is very good on the track and he is very good for himself.

“There are a few Australian ex-Pats and many kiwis here, so there is a lot of joke!”

From the route, the slim and fit Herbertson also finds its way.

“I try out as many different things as possible. The coffee of Dunkin (Donuts) is definitely my favorite, and there are many good wealthy food here. I only need one or two meals a day to get through, but a diet is required when I come home!

“Driving on the streets – no! I am very ecstatic to be a chauffeur for the security of everyone!”

Herbertson has a little more than three weeks before going to Elitloppet to Sweden to Sweden and can spend time in Jorgen Westholm Stall.
