What were your first impressions of Dealin with Dewey?
“Even now when I was 7, I remember how much 'mother' is in him every day. She was in the barn and a handful on the track. As a teenager, he was very similar. He had a few setbacks during his 3-year-old campaigns, and during this time he showed me that he also inherited her grain.
“I am grateful that I had the assist of my father with the development of him. I couldn't have done it alone. He still has his quirks, but he is now calmer. He is very a routine horse and he has to have a buddy. He is very dependent on a friend in a pony one day if I withdraw it.”
How would you describe his personality?
“He is great. He is always in a good mood. I mentioned his routine, he likes to stick to it. He recognizes my car every morning and he nicks when the barn door opens. If you keep it cheerful, he will take care of you.
“He loves to be outside, and as I said, he has to have a best friend at any time. He is very connected.”
What do you remember from the first win you have together?
“Our first victory together was his first start of his 3-year season. However, I was only his groom. As a coach, it was with Louis in Mohawk [Philippe Roy]. After this victory, he went in a row, which made this route something special.
“Louis probably drove him the most, but we were lucky enough to work with Uncle Mario repeatedly [Baillargeon]Sylvain [Filion]Jason [Ryan]and Aaron [Byron] Over the years. Each of them knows how protective I am from Cooper [Dealin with Dewey’s barn name]. “”
Three words to describe him?
“Joyful. Determined. Social.”
How did he change your life?
“He influenced me sustainably. I can rely on it to fit my lifestyle. He tries every beginning and at the end of the year he treated his editions and he always took care of his best friend.
“Last year he taught me how to manage him differently. He had a well-deserved winter vacation and only started in April. In August he gave me a 1-51.3 victory in Mohawk. It was a very emotional night for me.
“He also made it possible for my friend and me to try the Saratoga meeting in autumn. He offered me many exhilarating opportunities.”
