Evaluation of the preakness field

The former jockey Kali Francois is one of the novel talents that initiate moderator of the Maryland Jockey Club in a novel era in the Maryland race.

The 34 -year -old Francois offers a comprehensive knowledge of the game. From 2015 to 2021 she mainly drove on the middle Atlantic group. She also gained invaluable experiences by driving in Australia, a time that was so pleasant that she seriously thought about staying there in the long term.

Francois ultimately turned to the radio and will edit her fourth prevention inserts in this capacity. With the demolition of the Pimlico Race Course after the 150th checkness and a novel route to be built in this place to ensure that the middle jewel of the Triple Crown will always remain in Maryland, she is looking forward to being part of an invigorating transition in this state.

Francois looked into the future, loaded the triple crown format and evaluated many of this year's top competitors in a far-reaching question-and-answer session that was carried out on behalf of the best racing racing.

Pedulla: Are you surprised that Kentucky Derby's sovereignty will not try the Triple Crown?

Francois: I'm not surprised at all. I have crazy about Bill Mott. He won't sit there and push his horses through any fantasy section. This is Bill's show. This is not our show. Bill does what he thinks is right and I support it with all my heart.

Pedulla: If the two -week gap between the derby and the prevention stays, will we see this more and more?

Francois: It really depends on the connections who wins the derby. This is a case from case to case.

Pedulla: Do you think at some point we will see a change in the triple crown format?

Francois: I respect traditionalists and the format that has been in the past over 90 years. In the past four years at the prevention, it has changed the energy when the derby winner comes and tries. It is crucial. The game is different in many ways. Would I annoy myself if they stretch it out? No, not at all. Would I understand if you keep the two weeks? Yes. Would I love three weeks? Very much yes. It is much more incentive for the connections to make this jump. The more the general public can follow, the better it is for races. It also shows that our industry gives the best for the horse.

Pedulla: How do you see the future of the race in Maryland?

Francois: I am really looking forward to the future. The feeling is that Maryland is about to get out of the shade with some novel team members who make proficient decisions. Maryland's future prosperity is a goal for the industry at the national level. I am very cheerful about the future of how Maryland will create opportunities.

Pedulla: Four jockeys give their preakness debut. Does this lack of experience convey you disadvantaged?

Francois: Because they all do it at the same time, probably not. If you have [nearly] Half the field rides with the preakness for the first time, it is less worried. Just let us express it.

Pedulla: Are you confident that the strongly preferred journalism will deal with the two -week turnaround?

Francois: Yes, I am very confident. [Trainer] Michael McCarthy has repeatedly shown that he is not only a great conditioner, but also a great ability to understand the timing of things with horses, not only with journalism, but also with other horses. We trust in Michael here. I see no problem at all.

Pedulla: What would be the ideal journey for journalism?

Francois: I will not be surprised when we see a touch of him when we saw him in the derby. It is the number of horses. We have fewer horses with which we can deal with.

Pedulla: Is Sandman better than his seventh place in the derby would suspect?

Francois: Ultimately, the answer is “yes”. But the timing for now “no”. I thought he would move forward in the derby. I don't think he has a beneficial journey to get too much of it. I still think that he has a lot of ability. But for this weekend I have many questions about him.

Pedulla: Hall of Fame Trainer Todd Plletcher usually skipped the prevention. What does it say that he is aiming for this race for River Thame?

Francois: I think River Thame would have come in the derby terribly. I think Todd had the feeling that he took time. Todd took the right step as a rider by aiming a race in which he can succeed. I don't think the mile and the three-sixties will be a problem for him.

Pedulla: What kind of speed do you expect?

Francois: Much of it. If it is an “AUS” inflation, I like much more oriented. If it is a quick trace, it might jump.

Pedulla: How do you assess Stonestreet Lexington Stakes winner Gosger?

Francois: The Lexington was a really good setup for Gosger. I think it will be ready in the middle of the pack. This is a horse that could at best take third place.

Pedulla: Is that enough spices for gate orientations with just two career?

Francois: He gets the entire advantage of participating in this inside postpost [rail]. I think that will do it miracles. I think he loves to get horses on him. I think he loves this vigorous and he will get it in Preakness 150. The last time I loved the energy and last time. I am worried that this may need a race. For the first time he was a touch in the gallop in the mud.

Pedulla: Saffie Osborne tries to become the first female jockey to win the prevention. Can she do it with a heart of honor?

Francois: I love this horse. I love the performance that we saw at Meydan last time [second by a nose in the United Arab Emirates Derby Sponsored by Jumeirah]. I am always worried about the first North American run. You usually need a race. I am also worried about him in this Pimlico environment. The layout differs very much from Meydan. Sure, you have the same amount of crowds. But it is a different kind of audience. It is really a matter of adapting things. I really want to like this horse and put it in my top four. But we don't know how this horse will react.

Pedulla: Can the 89-year-old D. Wayne Lukas win his eighth prevention with American promise?

Francois: I mean, who should we ever doubt, Wayne Lukas? This horse needs its personal space bubble. He may get this opportunity in the prevention. Ultimately, I think it won't come [for Lukas] With this horse. Do I want to see it? Absolutely.

Pedulla: May I ask you for a live long shot?

Francois: Pay Billy. I go here for the Maryland Local and it is not only because he is a local Maryland. He carried out the performance numbers I am looking for. It is in good shape. I think this horse will be very surprising at 20-1.

Pedulla: Can I ask about your top 4?

Francois: Journalism, flow of this topic, goal -oriented and paid Billy. If it is a quick route, I would bring Billy about goal -oriented goal.
