Emotional victory for club officials

Riverton Trotting Club President Tracey McMaster and committee member Bridget Stevens were in tears as precious memories (Majestic son) won her first trot at the Riverton Havern Racing meet today.

“It was very special with a lot of tears because we never thought we would get her to the races,” Stevens said.

The five-year-old, who has suffered some injuries, is named after two friends of the owners who are no longer with us.

“I lost my sister Christina Hunt just before Covid, while Bridget lost her boyfriend Sharon Johnson, so we came up with the name to treasure memories,” McMaster said.

Noble memories come from the four-win Grant Our Wishes Mare Eile Curry, who was bred by Tracey's tardy father Bill Keast and won four races for Curly Thomas.

“Tracey and I were talking one night, she had hurried Curry in the paddock and we decided to put her in foal. We went to majestic son,” Bridget said.

McMaster made the early training with treasured memories, while Bridget's tardy father Tony Stevens helped when the horse was three years vintage before current trainer Chelsea Faithful took over training.

“She and her mother Louise really cared for this horse. Well and really,” McMaster said.

Hurry Curry's trainer Curly Thomas was also on the track today with his daughter Mary – Jane Thomas and they both enjoyed the win.

“There were a lot of family and friends who supported us on this journey,” McMaster said.
