Dubbo trainer dreams of dancing in Randwick

By Mark Brassel

The Dubbo coach Michael Mulholland would love nothing better than being represented by his first runner in the 3 million dollar -Substantial dance at Royal Randwick in November.

Mulholland hopes that his in-form galoper Magnace can qualify for the affluent event by taking out the $ 75,000 on Friday Pirtek Orange Gold Cup (2100 m).

The chestnut has impressively won its last three starts, including its last start of Orange Cup foreplay victory, which assures him of a start at the Gold Cup on Friday.

“The Orange Cup will be its D-Day and hopefully it can qualify for the gigantic dance because I have won many cups, but that's a race that I would really like to win,” said Mulholland.

“This will be his sixth run in this preparation, i.e. win, lose or pull, he will go on the way to a well -deserved break.

“Hopefully he will get the money and then I can set it for the Randwick race later in the year.”

Magnace was a revelation for the Mulholland stable with victories in orange twice and in Dubbo.

The gelding was formerly trained by Danny O'Brien in Victoria, where he won a race from eight outings.

“We bought it online and took a while to work it out,” said Mulholland.

“He was a bit weed, but has now set up a nice guy.”

In each of his victories, Magnace came from behind with a long and persistent sprint to claim the lead halfway in the straight and power.

“He wears his head a little, but that doesn't seem to stop him; a few times I thought he was out of petrol at home, but then he seems to find another equipment and he goes away.”

Serg Lisnyy worked together in two of his last three victories and Mulholland said he would be on board the five -year -old again.

The eight race on Friday orange meetings is a racing NSW Country Showcase program with a total of $ 340,000 on Prizemoney.

The club is raised in the field with many prices as well as the catering, a coffee van and a sweets in cash on the field.

And popular musicians Robbi and Ben – winner of the “Best of the Buskers' category at the Tamworth Country Music Festival – will perform music during the afternoon.

With the kind permission of buses, Robin Hood and Ophir will also be in operation at noon.

Next Saturday, Dubbo Turf Club The third management of the Arrowfield Queen of the West will organize.

The $ 50,000 Fillies and mares sponsored by Arrowfield also runs to the extremely popular social event of Mercedes-Benz Ladies Day.

Arrowfield will again offer a nomination for the three-time group 1 and the dual derby winner Hitotsu, which is presented to win the connections of the Arrowfield Queen of the West.

“In just three years, the event has become a flagship for the Dubbo Turf Club and aims to present high -quality races and local hospitality,” said Sam Fitzgerald, General Manager of DTC. “Our goal for this event is to get a little better every year.

“We have some great attractions Kylie Jane and her band will play all day and at the after-party and there is a fashion on the field with a cowboy chic topic.

“We will also have some exhibits from local distillers and seafood as well as Mercedes-Benz fleet of high-class vehicles.”
