Daddys Legacy

Kristen Gonsoir announced on social media the death of her stallion, Daddys Legacy.

“I knew this day was coming, but didn’t expect it so soon- My once-in-a-lifetime heart horse, Daddys Legacy: January 31, 2000-May 6, 2025. He choked on Thursday, which left his larynx paralyzed and he just could not eat. We had hoped function would return, but it wasn’t, and it was time. He is now getting treats from my dad, treats I never allowed him to have as a breeding stallion.

“Someone once told me ‘Bud’ is the horse he would want to ride in heaven. Bud helped fulfil many of my dreams. He was an AQHA Champion. He sired AQHA Champions. He placed in the top 10 at the AQHA World Show and qualified many times for the World Show. Our kids roped on him. I dabbled in some dressage with him. He loved his people. I will miss his stunning white head and noisy deep whinny greeting me in the morning.

“He also held a special place in my heart as my last project with my dad that my dad never got to actually meet, until now. He is being laid to rest at the top of the hill in the pasture.”

Daddys Legacy, bred by Kristen in Groton, South Dakota, was sired by Skip Legacy, out of Sue Bee Pat by Jackie Bee. The gray stallion sired 76 AQHA-registered foals in 19 crops.
