Trainer and driver David Butcher travels to Manawatu for the first time this season, with some promising opportunities on the way to the racing law firms, including one that he trains in Brookside Girl (Girl (Girl (Downby theseaside).
The five -year -old mare begins today at S&A a Telfer Stables Mobile Tempo over 2000 meters and resigns after a long spell, which lasted in August last year.
“I'm pretty joyful with her, but she only has the only training session in a tiny heat in Cambridge that led to it and it is her first look at Manawatu,” says Metzger.
Brookside Girl is a winner of two races in Alexandra Park and another six placements of just 16 starts. It begins today's event by Barrier Three and seems to be well placed to start her modern campaign.
In the Wendy Devenport Stables Mobile Tempo, butcher is positive about the two horses trained by his son Benjamin, I can (4) and heart and aces (5). Metzger also drives, I can too, and Benjamin also takes over the reins that I can do.
“There is not much between the two and I think they probably went into a slightly better company, with the majority of their starts being in Auckland,” says Metzger.
The other son of Metzger, the other son Zachary, also trains Enzo (1), who begins in the same race. The gelding was the third and fourth place at Manawatu meeting last week and is driven by Saileshy this week.
The Horse Metzger looks at his best chance of the day that the Scott Dickson Dixieland Dlelight, who has Alan and Trina Shutkowski Stable's mobile pace over 2000 meters, is trained.
The Art major Mare has published two victories and two seconds in Manawatu in Manawatu since he joined the Dickson Stall. Her most recent victory was on Tuesday when she was leaning back from her barrier before rounding the field around the last 1200 meters and achieving a comfortable victory with a length of 1.75.
“I know that this week she was quite satisfied with her and her shape is very well in today's climb,” says Metzger.
“I think she would be my best from the day, but the rest is also a good place chances.”
Butcher also drives Trippy Tyron – R1, Victor Bravo – R3 and Beta Preparation – R6.
The race is going on today at 3:16 p.m.
