The likeable racing of Cranbourne, Scott Ewen, has been on a roller coaster ride lately, but it is hopeful about what is around the corner in the coming months.
“We have definitely decided to bring a team with our antique Warhorse 'Bullet' (Bullet Proof Boy) to Queensland to target the Inter -Dominion series in the Albion Park in July,” said Ewen.
“We have never driven up there, so we are quite excited – we looked at it two years ago, but he probably didn't go as well at the time as he is now.”
The nominations for this year's Queensland Inter Dominion Tempo and Trab Championship are closing on April 30th.
Ten -year -old ball -proof boy (Art official) In a remarkable career as a “Volksmeister” in a remarkable career as 47 wins and 47 placements of 210 starts for stakemoney of more than 745,000 US dollars.
“I still can't believe that he does it at his age because he started as a two -year race,” said Ewen.
“But he is a high adrenaline horse and he just loves to run. He was a stroke of luck for Kylie and me and it is nice that he now gets recognition that he may have claimed a few years ago,” said Ewen.
'Bullet' was back at work after enjoying a week in the paddock, and Ewen went back to the race track in three or four weeks. He plans some runs that led to the qualifying heats of the Inter Dominion Series on July 19 on July 19th and 12th.
But for Ewen, who is based in the Cranbourne Havern Training Center, it was not all upside down.
He was lucky enough to escape grave injuries a little more than two weeks ago than a Square-Gaich on which he worked, received an indictment in the mobile barrier and screwed out “out of control”.
“I'm not exaggerating when I say that he trotted a quarter of 26 seconds,” said Ewen.
“He flew, but then he dissolved and kicked the stirrups, which only made him pulled harder. We hit the outer fence and luckily we landed on the deck – there is a gigantic drop on the other side and we would have been in great difficulty when we went over,” he said.
“I come out with seriously injured ribs while the horse held a little skin here and there.”
But Lady Luck shone on the stable at the last Cranbourne game (April 18). The couple had a winning double with Tara Victory (Vincent) and bulletproof child (Art major) with Michael Bellman and Ewa Justice, each of which is in driving tasks for the outgoing Ewen.
And if that wasn't enough, they made three winners in 24 hours when Ubetta knots (Bed gates joy) (Michael Bellman) received the money the next evening in Melton at 12/1 in Lionheart Security.
“It was fairly invigorating 24 hours – despite our antique, most popular ball -safe boy who was not one of the winners,” laughed Ewen.
'Bullet' is likely to be accompanied on his northern journey by both Bulletproof Kid and Ubetta Knot.
“He will need travel companions and these two should be suitable up there. Ubetta Knot turns into a handsome little horse and they run stakemoney races,” said Ewen.
“Then, a month after we came back home, Kylie and I make a few weeks on a different cruise. Bullet paid for it last year – and I think he already covered it this year.”
Hoofnote: The Ewen double at the Cranbourne meeting was all the sweeter for the Royal Children's Hospital Gard Friday Appeal. The club agreed to contribute 1,000 US dollars to the appeal for every locally trained winner. Then he increased his contribution by 3000 US dollars to bring the final donation to 5000 US dollars. Well done cranbourne HRC!
