Brushed brush strokes for 3 years in Corowa (Monday)

From Neil Evans

The strength of the three-year row at the recent carnival of Wagga Cup is on a leash at the Corowa meeting on Monday.

Progressive Albury three -year -old Warpainted is very well placed to get back to the winning of paths in the Balldale Hotel Benchmark 58 Handicap over the mile.

It will only be the second run of the wall for the leading border trainer Donna Scott after a quick switch of Gary Colvin in Wagga between the Guineas Prelude and the listed final only 17 days ago.

Albury coach Donna Scott

Warpainted, a dominant class 1 winner at Australia Day, had great chances when he only had his sixth start and only ended three lengths from Sharp Guineas Prelude winner Dupli Kate.

That was on the Colvin farm before he was abruptly moved to the Scott Camp in Albury, and just a few weeks later he again led a brave effort in the Wagga Guineas showdown, which was completed a little more than two lengths from Dupli Kate.

In view of the obvious depth of this race at BM 74, Warpainted's immediate degree defender makes it complex to beat on a route that should remain firm after it has complied with the entire rain that hammered the NSW east coast.

A difficult son of Rosehill Guineas (2000 m) in Group 1 in Group 1 (2000 m), d'Argento, ideally rolated in the saddle to roll from Blaike McDougall.

It would surely take a recently frustrating run for the Scott Stable, which has not been successful for almost five weeks, although a double in Albury on April 17 had completed eight individual winners from their last 22 starts in the first half of the autumn.

However, the race is the last and clearly strongest of three consecutive BM 58 battles to close the Corowa meeting.

Under the challenging distortions, there is an ultra-consistent Victorian three-year-old Torn, who has achieved three second places above the border since a BM58 victory in Benalla in mid-March.

Throw in a difficult midnight affair that comes back from two tougher Saturday Highway of Class 3, and drunk sailor from CL 3 Level third, and threatens to show a powerful formline finish for the day.
