She responded willingly at the three-sixteenth pole when shaken up by Lanerie, joining Happy Cadence and Sconsin with a good kick in the final furlong and driving relentlessly past the duo in the final sixteenth of the mile.
“She always gives her all and I had a lot of confidence in her today,” Lanerie said. “It was a miniature field but we were still able to exploit their tactic of running off the pace. I reminded her a few times slow to keep going, but she knew where the wire was and got the job done.”

Isolate was an unlucky runner-up after breaking through early on. He led the field of eight older horses by quick fractions of :21.34 and :44.15, while Miles Ahead moved up from fourth place. Under constant pressure, he continued his rapid attack and, after attempting to go along the inside, changed course to the outside of Isolate as they approached the sixteenth pole. In the last few meters he prevailed with a narrow header in three directions.
“The more I asked him slow, the more he found,” Garcia said. “The race was going really well for us and in the low phase (Isolate) he was kind of getting ahead of us, but I was able to pull alongside and he dug in to hold him off.”
Miles Ahead paid $7.46 for a $2 win ticket and improved his record to 12-4-1 from 25 starts, with earnings of $644,503. It was his third career stakes victory and first outside Gulfstream Park.
