Archibald sees coast as an opportunity to build character

By Ray Hickson

Around this time last year, coach Annabel and Rob Archibald had the depth of the character as a horse of the future and although it took a little longer than they thought he got the chance to cement them in Gosford on Saturday.

Rob Archibald said his three -year -old spring was not expected, but he had shown himself with every run since he was on the way back at the end of last year.

After encouraging runs in the missions of Randwick Guineas and Carbine Club, he found his groove with two consecutive victories in Brisbane and eyes now a hat-trick in the $ 500,000 of the coast (1600 m).

“I think he's probably starting a little and we work out,” said Archibald.

“When they go back through its shape, he did very little wrong, we asked him to drive in good races at an early stage.

“We did it a little wrong in spring, but he was good this time.”

Depth of character, $ 4.40 with Tab on Thursday, will secure last weekend after his outstanding victory in Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600 m).

There is a theory that its best shape is in the north, and he did not drive with something worse than a tender 5, but Archibald said how he reacts to the backup and the return journey from Queensland will determine its opportunities.

“It was a very good run last weekend and it seems to have got through well,” he said.

“He was fresh in the Carbine Club and then he put two nice victories on the Eagle Farm there so that he races well.

“Some of the cozy horses have pulled wide and we are confident whether he deals with his back that he will be correct in the mixture.”

There will be a change in the tactics in talented sprinter Ostraka if it has the highest weight in the listed 250,000 US dollars by de Bortoli Wines Takeover Target Stakes (1200 m).

The four-year double of Group 1 of the Oakleigh-Plate and the Up-to-date Market before returning to Sydney in Star Kingdom, while led three weeks ago in his last start to the Hall Mark Stakes (1200 m).

“He was candid, without winning, he only overdo it, a fraction before it,” said Archibald.

“We will ride him a little more calmly and hopefully this is the key for him, just to stop him a bit.

“There seems to be enough speed on paper, and if you exaggerate it, it should be very powerful delayed.”

The Archibalds have the Naval College and the Humid Tracker in the listed 300,000 dollar -Guardian Safety Solutions Gosford Gold Cup (2100 m).

The former, who has resumed fourth place behind the Bois d'Iigent stable in the JRA plate (2000 m), goes north, while Archibald said that the outsider could surprise hopefully if the route is tested.

“He came, it is a sticky draw, but if he is a bit of luck from the draw, he will be right,” said Archibald about the Naval College.

“He is running well, I was very satisfied with his first run and he will continue to improve and will probably end in Brisbane.”

The Guinenen from Queensland wins character depth

Hope has not won from 2022 since the Lord Mayors Cup and was safely held in the Sydney Cup a month ago.

“He loves to give in the track and when he gets that he generally find his best form. It is a good draw, he should get a nice run and we are satisfied with him,” said Archibald.
