Alpinista takes Prescott's glorious first Arc victory

Miracle mare climber Passed her toughest test with flying colors and won the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) on October 2nd for Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris Longchamp. It was the eighth successive win for the 5-year-old, who is undefeated in the last two seasons.

She always moved powerfully on the rain-soaked ground, leading her about a furlong and a half from home and holding on bravely Vadeni and last year's winner, Torquator Tasso .

<p>“Everything went according to plan. It was very nice and velvety. After we had so much rain I was worried whether she would be as effective, but she is a remarkable mare. It’s so versatile and so sturdy.”</p>
<p>“I couldn't believe how good she felt when she got on the straight. I just tried to protect her as long as possible. When I needed her, she dug deep.”</p>
<p>Ante-post favorite <span class=Luxembourg trained by Aidan O'Brien, could only finish seventh, one place ahead of his stablemate Broome . Most essential Japanese hope Defending champion finished 11th after increasing the pace from the start.

The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) is a Breeders' Cup Challenge race, the winner of which will automatically receive a qualifying place and paid fees for the 2022 Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) on World Championship weekend, November 4, 5 at Keeneland.
