Via Sienna (UK)a half-sister to Bated Breath (GB) of multiple Group 1 winner Via Sistina (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), was added to the Arqana Vente d'Elevage. An unridden two-year-old, lot 120, will be consigned by Baroda Stud and sold at Deauville on Saturday December 7th. The sale runs from December 7th to 10th.
Via Sistina won the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in the Northern Hemisphere before selling for 2,700,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale last year, where she was purchased by Yulong. In Australia she has triumphed five times at the highest level: the Ranvet Stakes, Winx Stakes, Turnbull Stakes, Cox Plate and the Champions Stakes.
The half-sisters are descended from the Galileo (Ire) mare Nigh (Ire), who is a half-sister to G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes and G1 Nunthorpe Stakes hero Kingsgate Native (Ire) (Mujadil). Bred by Wes Melcher, Via Sienna was a 20,000gns Tattersalls December foal. When she sold for 75,000 grams at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year, she didn't reach her reserves.
