The Treo Eile Thoroughbred Classic takes place on Thursday, December 12th | A different direction

A galaxy of racing stars will attend the Treo Eile Christmas Show at the Emerald Equestrian Center on Thursday, December 12th.

Oisin Murphy, Colin Keane, Davy Russell, Barry Geraghty, Nina Carberry, Robbie Power and more will be seen at the popular event.

The Horse Racing Ireland Treo Eile Thoroughbred Classic is the main event of the evening and is a team competition showcasing Ireland's finest retrained racehorses.

Teams of four compete against each other in a time competition. Led by a jockey, each team consists of one professional and one amateur rider, all riding former racehorses. The fourth team member will be a talented pony rider.

Each rider jumps an obstacle course followed by a jump-off to determine the winners of the coveted Horse Racing Ireland Perpetual Trophy.

The Christmas show will be hosted by Kevin O'Ryan and Brendan McArdle from Racing TV's The Irish Field and starts at 12pm. Well-known names Tiger Roll, Al Boum Photo, A Plus Tard and General Principle will also feature at the Moyglare Stud Parade of Champions.

Caoimhe Doherty, co-founder of Treo Eile, said: “The Treo Eile Christmas Show is the highlight of our year. It's a wonderful event full of fun, full of friends and most of all celebrating the former racehorse and demonstrating his abilities in a second career. It is a great joy to bring so many different areas of the equestrian community – racing, show jumping and eventing – together for the benefit of the horse. We look forward to our fourth annual show and hope to see recent and ancient friends at the Emerald Equestrian Center on Thursday, December 12th.”

Tickets cost €15 per person, family tickets (two adults, two children) €40, groups of 10 people €100 and can be purchased online: https://www.itsplainsailing.com/org/te.
