The $182,361 NRHA European Derby Open Qualifier took place on the second day of competition at Equita Lyon, France. A total of 124 horses from four levels competed for a place in the final on Saturday November 2nd.
The French rider Arnaud Girinon, who was the last to enter the Oklahoma Arena, took the lead with a score of 222.5 on the nominated 5-year-old stallion Flexing Guns N Town (Hollywoodstinseltown x Shesa Fashion Gun x Colonels) equipped with Anna Scheiflinger Top of the $82,612 Level 4 Open Qualifier Smoking Gun (Shooter). The duo also won the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) $1,250 Chrome Cash Incentive Level 4 Open Derby Qualifier.

In the $47,222-Added Level 3 and $34,565-Added Level 2 scores, German Nina Lill scored 222 on Jewel Dream (Magnum Chic Dream x GR Hug A Jewel x Solanoswarlee Boy), a 5-year-old mare owned by Martin Bachmann and nominated by Edoardo Bernardelli.
Dane Patrick Capobianco scored a 215.5 on Voodoo Majestic Gun (Shiners Voodoo Dr x Gunna Be Majestic x Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner)), a 7-year-old gelding owned by Cecilie Lyndrup and nominated by Quarter Dream SRL, and led the way prize money worth 17,961 US dollars. Added level 1.

The $495 LL Technologie NRHA Grand Prix Constrained Open with 35 competitors will open the day, followed by the ELEMENTA NRHA European Derby Finals, where 55 finalists will compete for the prestigious European titles across four levels of competition, and the Youth Non- Pro department. Winners of the $1,250 APHA Chrome Cash Incentive Level 4 Non Pro Derby will also be determined.
