O'Brien winner Nijinsky (Bed gates joy) Continuation for his upcoming Grand Circuit Stakes Gurtess Racing campaign with a forceful qualification mile on Monday, May 5th, in Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The regular Reinsman Louis-Philippe Roy put Nijinsky to the point in a murky morning after a persecution trip a week ago. The division champion trained by Tony Beaton put the district in: 27.4 and raced in a backwind in the background in: 57.4 before accelerated to three quarters in 1:26 and sprinted home with the wind with the wind for a 1: 51.4-qualifying victory. Nijinsky was his own race and increased his lead in the victory into the double borders from the last round. Winmebak (James Macdonald), a 2023 Ontario Sires Stakes Braots Champion and former starter last year, followed a dozen lengths in the second time, with Momas, son Byrne (Jonathan Drury) and Distaffer Kellina Diamond (Jr. Plans) completed the quartet.
Nijinsky was appointed three-year-old in 2024 after a 1.6-million dollar campaign, in which he won the prestigious North America Cup, and any other Canadian race in which he participated. The champion of Ontario Sires Stakes also added Grand Circuit victory, including divisions of the Sombacheome where and Simce Stakes on the home grass as well as the Monument Circle and the removal of the Meadowlands Teep in a career best 1: 47.3 one-to-one states. Top two in all of his 17 starts in the second year.
Beaton trains the four -year -old son of Betters Joy from Pirouette Hannover for the owners of West wins stable, John Fielding and Mark Dumain as well Recently added owner Winbak farm.
“We put him full and put him. We believe in him,” said Coleman in A March interview. “I know that he is a four -year race against the open horses, but I would not exchange him in the open ranks for someone. I am very excited to bring him back.”
Coleman had announced that Nijinsky's first deployment in the season on May 31 would be the leg of the graduate series in Mohawk.
