This function offers a capsule view of three horses that heat up on the Triple Crown Trail and three horses, the chances of which are not quite as sturdy for the 2025 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve as before.
In the eighth edition of this blog for the 2025 Run for the Roses, the focus is on the changing landscape of the 3-year male division after the last week of action, which of the $ 1.5 million of Arkansas Derby in Oaklawn Park in Oaklawn Park and that of Hill 'N' Dale Farms in Xalapa in the amount of $ 1 million in Gulfstream was highlighted.
Heat
1. Tappan Street
The Tappan Street completed its first test in the Holy Bull Stakes on February 1st in the Gulfstream Park and extended from a seven-furgonian debut victory to take second place in 1 1/16 mile class 3 in its second start for coach Brad Cox. Instead of turning it back in the Coolmore fountain of the youth missions on March 1st, Cox gave him additional break and aimed at the Florida Derby on March 29. Saint bull did not look as sturdy as a performance when Burnham Square ended three lengths behind the sovereignty in the fountain of the youth, but this result was no role in the Florida Derby. The Tappan Street showed its progress with a 1 ¼ length victory against sovereignty and completed the last three-night mile in: 37.06 and the last quarter mile in: 24.91 under Luis Saez. The Tappan Street held a 3-year-old in sovereignty, many of which were considered the top 5 or better contenders for the 2025 Kentucky Derby, and deserved a career best 94 Beyer Speed Figure and 96 Equibase Speed figure. He raced from a solid pace in the Florida derby within four lengths and still ended very well. He has the family tree to highlight in longer distances-leads the father in Virginia Key, who was committed to the 1 1/8 miles long Gazelle-Stakes. Only three starts are a little worrying and the speed figures came back slightly, but the standards for derby competitors change quickly and the Tappan Street is a 3-year-old who is on the rise both at a tactical speed and endurance for a kentucky derby winner.
2. Verlag
It is arduous to quantify how much of the second place of the publisher in the Arkansas derby on March 29th in the Oaklawn Park was due to improvements and natural progress and how much the incredibly quick pace was. The Bay Colt until 2015 the triple crown winner American Pharoah had the nine horse field through a blasty first quarter mile in: 22.46 and was back after half a mile 16 ½ length when the Cornucopian duel dueled with the winner of the Southwest Stakes, Speed King. The Arkansas derby ideally set up this confirmation of the early tempo for horses from the pace, and Sandman and Publisher closed from eighth and ninth place to first and second place. Publisher (like the Tappan Street above) entered his last Kentucky Derby Qualifying Prep Race with only 10 points and needed a top two-finish to secure a place in the race, and he delivered the best start of his life. He earned a career best 95 Beyer Speed figure and reached a career 100-equibase-speed figure … not too shabby for a stallion foal that did not win a race in seven starts. My main reason for taking care of his chances of his Kentucky derby is that he did not end the race very quickly. For this reason, I think that the lively pace for the publisher has expanded things. However, the Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen trainee got a place in the Kentucky Derby and a week ago he was hardly under discussion. As closer to him, he should drive past the route from Churchill Downs horses, but I think the blanket could be a top four or top three finish.
3. Sandman
In my opinion, Sandman is the most likely winner of the Kentucky Derby among my top three this week, but I could not justify a higher placement, simply because I was already quite positive about his chances. Nevertheless, on March 29, I entered the Arkansas derby. Like the editor, he benefited from a scorching pace in the Arkansa Derby, but Sandman's résumé is more hearty than the record of the runner -up and he became faster, even though he was closer to the early executives. With three wins, including the $ 1.5 million Arkansas Derby, plus top three surfaces in the Street Sense Stakes, Southwest Stakes and Rebel Stakes in eight starts, Sandman has a great basis for the supplement to a family tree loaded by the endurance (read more about both in its derby profile). He showed a certain immature when he looked out in Oaklawn on Saturday, but that can be corrected, and Jockey Jose Ortiz believes he knows why it happened. “He was a little shy from the whip off his left hand. I could see that from the repetitions last time,” said Ortiz. “I tried it once and didn't try again. So he rolled.” At the moment I have rated Sandman behind journalism and the runner -up from Florida Derby. He is together with several others in my second stage, including Champion Citizen Bull and colleague Santa Anita Derby candidate Barnes. I think Sandman has a legitimate chance to win the Kentucky Derby on May 3.
Also justified: If you read this, especially when it is Wednesday Luxor Caféby American Pharoah. After the five long-term win of Luxor Café in the Fukuryu Stakes on March 29, his connections in Nakayama said that a decision about his status for the first jewel of the US triple Crown on April 2. Luxor Café is a full risk (the same sire (Same Sire [father] and the same dam [mother]) To the Japanese champion and the father Café Pharoah and a half -brother (the same dam, other father) until 2022 Champion lawyer Ms. Regal Glory. He is a star and his last four starts, everything wins, indicate that he is good on the way to the fame. The Luxor Café has 70 points on the Japan road to the Kentucky Derby. Therefore, there is a place in Churchill on May 3 when coach Noriyuki Hori and owner Koichi Nishikawa decide to send him to the USA when judging the Luxor Café for the Luxor Café after his last race.

1. Disruptor
When Disruptor, who won the last 11 editions of the Florida Derby, was a dominant victory of 9 ¼ length in the Gulfstream Park for a trainer, Todd Plletcher, and was a buzz horse that entered the Marquee Derby Prep and the 3.40-1 second election when the start gates opened. The Florida Derby was its first start in a Stakes race and its one -shot to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. He couldn't do the job in a fifth place, 10 ½ lengths behind the winner Tappan Street. A massive test was from a first sprint to a class 1 race at 1 1/8 miles. He still has a great future, but Disruptor was not yet up to the task on Saturday in the Gulfstream Park.
2. Madaket road
I admit that I'm all over the menu when it comes to the Madaket Road – I really can't find out. I liked his third place in Robert B. Lewis Stakes on February 1st in Santa Anita Park, but I was very encouraged by his second place in the class 2 rebel sticks for the Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. I love it when Baffert takes the turn signals from his 3-year-olds because it usually means that he sees promising signs of maturity in the morning, and I was confident that he changed his eyeballs in the Florida derby with this equipment. Instead, he was only fine when he was fourth, 5 ½ lengths behind the winner Tappan Street and therefore in danger in the Kentucky Derby. He currently ranks 16TH On the way to the Kentucky derby ranking with 46 points, there are three 100 points races as well as a potential Japan contender and a qualification game in Japan and Euro/Middle East this weekend. So there is a good chance that the Madaket Road will continue after this weekend.
3. Cornucopian
As with disruptor above, Cornucian tested the water in a pile of the 1 class on the Kentucky Derby Trail after a dominant victory in a Maiden sprint race and came in his overdue offer to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. That is the only reason why he is on this list. I still believe in the talent if this is too nonsense. In fact, I could be even higher in the long-term prospects of the Cornucopian, after he had held fourth place on March 29 in 1 1/8-mile Arkansas derby after setting the pace through an evil quick half mile in: 45.21. Cornucopian was not entirely ready for the main time in the Oaklawn Park on Saturday and of course that means that he will miss the Kentucky Derby. But we will soon see him against the Stakes competition and he will be better prepared in his second attempt.
Remarkable: You could do a case Coal fight A little of his gloss in third place in the Arkansas derby lost on March 29, which ended a winning series with three breeds, all of which came in the qualification of Kentucky Derby. The carbon foal was struck by seven lengths in the defeat and it is not an ideal jumping stone for the Kentucky Derby, but I think the quick pace seriously injured the chances of the coal battle. At least he should get something out of the race to build perseverance, and he could be better in the Kentucky Derby with a solid foundation of eight starts, including one per month for the past seven months.
