World Trivers Championship to Up-to-date Zealand

For the first time, Up-to-date Zealand will be the only host of the world driver championship this year.

The championships are represented by 10 different countries and will take place from November 2 to 11 at four venues-Kaikoura, Cambridge, Winton and Addington.

“It is an extraordinary opportunity to present our sport and show Up-to-date Zealand in the world,” says Brad Steele, Managing Director of Greetness Racing Up-to-date Zealand.

“And the fact that we have never been the only host makes it even better.”

On Tuesday, November 11th, on the Addington Raceway on the day of the last heat at the Up-to-date Zealand Cup Day.

“It is on the Bucket list for many who can drive in Addington on our biggest day, so this will be particularly special – the best drivers here with a world championship title in the management,” says Steele.

“It won't get much better!”

Australia and Up-to-date Zealand were the common hosts five times, the recent 2007.

In 1985, Tony Herlihy Triumphing and Maurice McKendry won in 1985.

Other Up-to-date Zealand winners have been since the first championship in 1970:

Dexter Dunn (2015)
Mark Jones (2003)
Robert Cameron (1983)
Kevin Holmes (1978)

The Up-to-date Zealand representative at the championship will be announced on Saturday, April 19. Blair Orange wore the silver fern at the last championship in Europe in 2023.

The defending champion is the two -time winner Rick Ebbgee from the Netherlands.

“We have a number of electrifying initiatives to really bring the event to life, and we can hardly wait,” says Steele.
