Recent sponsor for 2025 Tye Angland Medal (Wagga Gold Cup Carnival)

The former Wagga Boy Tye Angland is recognized annually by the Murrumbidgee Turf Club with a medal mentioned in honor.

The first Tye Angland medal was staged in 2019 and is now one of the highlights of the Wagga Gold Cup carnival every winter (Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2).

The medal, which was presented to the leading jockey of the two -day carnival, celebrates the riding career from Tye and also offers a generous donation to the Tye Angland Foundation, this year with the kind permission of Visy Logistics and the MTC.

After a fall from Go Beauty GO, Tye became a paraplegic at the Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong seven years ago.

During a fantastic riding career, he booted almost 1000 winners and, together with 11 wins in Group 1, took out the Wagga Gold Cup 2018 less usually.

“The MTC is enthusiastic this year to work with Visy Logistics that will support the tradition of the medal with a generous donation of 3000 US dollars to Tyes Charity 'Team Tye Foundation,” said Jason Ferrario, CEO from MTC.

“The MTC also donates an additional 1000 US dollars to the winner jockey, which was previously donated to Team Tye Foundation.”

Visy Logistics is looking forward to the fresh sponsorship and is part of this year's Wagga Gold Cup Carnival.

“We are proud to support the Wagga Gold Cup and sponsor the prestigious Tye Angland medal – it is a real celebration of the talent, commitment and passion in the racing industry,” said Wayne Boxshall, Country Manager for Logistics Australia.

“Our continued support of these events underlines our commitment to promoting local talent and strengthening relationships between the communities in the entire Riverina as well as many other ways to celebrate the growth of our local community and contribute to the growth of our local community.”

Team Tye Foundation supports people in racing who deal with catastrophic injuries or difficulties and focuses on the many jockeys and industry workers around the world.

Last year, another former local jockey Tyler Schiller (near Adolescent) won the Tye Angland medal by three points and claimed the title of a leading driver at the Wagga Gold Cup Carnival.

Mr. Ferrario said his club was looking forward to another fantastic Wagga Gold Cup carnival and thankful for the newly discovered sponsorship with Visy Logistics.

“The Tye -Angland Medal is a great opportunity to celebrate the leading jockey on both days of the Wagga Gold Cup carnival and continue the tradition of donation of the Team Tye Foundation.

“The Wagga Gold Cup Carnival continues to attract fantastic local and intergovernmental jockeys, and we look forward to celebrating the winner of this year's Tye Angland medal.”
