Milton, March 8, 2025 -Maggie Jones led the four -year -old Trotter Veracruz to a comprehensive victory in the Woodbine Mohawk Park in the international race of the Women's Day on Saturday.
A field of nine nights over night met for the race of the all-Women driver on Saturday to celebrate international women's day.
Pam Forgie fired Derf Hannover to lead to A: 29.1 opening district. The duo would show the path continuously, but was pressed through the entire middle half by Mister Magic and Anita Ouellette.
When the field increased by three quarters in 1: 28.1, the trotters showed up in the last round. Jones, who had brought Veracruz back to eighth place early, was sitting in fourth place on the third marker. Derf Hannover was difficult on the route by Forgie and showed his 11-year-old to hold on to him, and only took the lead in the final six-tetan.
While it did not appear cold and the Natasha day could be in sight for the lane, they were overtaken by a strenuous Veracruz and Jones, which rated in 1: 58.2 to a 2½ length.
“My plan was just to hone away and get a place,” said Jones Post-Race. “(Veracruz) was just robust and really game and he always came. He was incredible and never stopped.
“(It feels pretty amazing, I won't be lying. I was pretty content when I could see the wire and thought we would arrive there.”
Veracruz and Jones went 4-1 (USD 10.20).
