Lord Popinjay is expanding the winning run

An unlikely combination has developed into one of the Stars Racing teams of the Northern Trotting Summer.

Lord Popinjay

Lord Popinjay (Majestic son) continued his amazing revival since he came to Matty White Stable 18 months ago when he trotted in the 40,000 US dollars on Friday evening, which I trotted in Alexandra Park in Alexandra Park.

As usual, it was driven by Monika Ranger, who perfectly assessed the race and quickly took the lead and loosened in the middle half when the Backmarker Kyvalley Hotspur would least improve, and then ran home in 56.7 seconds.

It was the 10th victory of his career and remarkable five of them have come since November, which made him one of the most successful horses in a gang or a class of Up-to-date Zealand summer.

White admits that he doesn't mind driving his unlikely stable star after Ranger originally aimed at Lord Popinjay because of her junior status.

“We got that and she stayed because he gets half a rating points because Monny has not yet won 50 wins,” says White.

“She drives him great and to see how to win a group 3 is very frosty for the horse, his owners and Monny.”

Among these owners is the wife of White and HRNZ writer Brigette Solomon, whose husband writes a lot of Lord Popinjay's success.

“Brigette works almost all the work with him and as you can see, it works.”

Lord Popinjay started his career with Dave Mann, who belonged to the gelding with brother reg.

They worked him in Frank Weavers property, but then sent him to White when Dave decided to move away from training.

“He is a lovely truthful horse and the consistent race was really good for him,” says White, who has now trained Lord Popinjay to win nine times, eight of them with Ranger.

“He has another 40,000 dollar race in the Greenlane Cup and then the Country Cup final in Cambridge in the Legends Night (April 4) here.

“We'll take it a race, but he could even get his shot on the Rowe Cup, but we are not carried away.”

At the main pace of the night, Frisco Bay disturbed the favorites after he had the perfect path over 1700 m.

He was able to apply the passing lane to snap the brave Ohoka Connor, while the sizzling favorite seekin Megxit came back as expected, but had all possible traffic problems.

This message could not have been transferred louder or wider when both the driver Zachary butcher on the box seat and the co-trainer Scott Phelan to HRNZ said that the Punters Duchess Megxit would be driven conservatively, but it was still secured in $ 1.45.
