In last year's international race for Women's Day, Julie Walker led Prince of Sussex inside and pulled out tardy to win with 3-3/4 lengths in 1: 55.4 as a 2-1 election for Second Gurtess Racing.

As an accomplished coach in Ontario, Walker has won 368 lifespan since 2008 and sent starters with over 4.5 million US dollars.

“I have mine [driving] License to support the horses that I train in order not to be a driver, ”said Walker. “I think if I started driving at 19 or 20 like most of the boys, I would have driven more, but I was intimidated. As soon as I was in my thirties, I didn't care, but it is more complex to start. “

This year's race is the fourth edition of the International Women's Day Race. Tradition began to recognize the participation of women in the belt race, which was uncommon in the past.

“When I grew up in Owen Sound, I was somehow isolated,” Walker recalled. “But I remember that I went on a trip with my father to Hawkinsville, Georgia and saw two women who could do everything. Rebecca Titus and Sally Foxworth. Her success and success of my mother Lori Thomson, Vicki Gregg and Susan Walker, to name just a few, was inspiring. “

In addition to the race on Saturday, Marie Claude Auger, Jesse Turnnne, Anita Ouellette, Anne Marie Turnnene, Maggie Jones, Marielle Enberg and Natasha Day drives.

“Perhaps some of us do not want to be fishing drivers in this race, but we should raise the opportunities for women in the future,” said Walker.

The reigning champion on Women's Day has no nerve, just the excitement for the race on Saturday.

“You only get nervous when you haven't done it for a while, and I have trained my own horses enough that I am ready. I look forward to it. “

As far as her lively stable is concerned, Walker indicated that racing fans are looking for a few sturdy three -year -olds in Ontario, who come from her barn in the coming season.
