South African Champions Group 1 winners Cloth of the Cloud (SAf) (Captain Al {SAf} – Our Table Mountain, by Fusaichi Pegasus) achieved a top price of 180,000gns at Tattersalls' online December sale on Thursday. She was supplied by Moulton Stud and purchased by bloodstock agent Hubie de Burgh.

Headlining the inaugural Southern Hemisphere Session, a collaboration between Tattersalls Online and Inglis Digital, Cloth Of Cloud was one of three mares in the session to sell for a six-figure sum.

The 11-year-old mare was offered as a foal to champion sire Too Darn Sizzling (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) at the time of the Southern Hemisphere and was unbeaten in three starts as a two-year-old, including the G3 Pretty Polly Stakes and the G1 South African Nursery in Turffontein.

The daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus' Our Table Mountain is a half-sister to four black performers, including the Group 1-winning filly Silver Mountain (SAf) (Silvano {Ger}).

“It was purchased for an existing customer who wanted to be part of Too Darn Sizzling’s success story in the southern hemisphere,” explained de Burgh. “Cloth of Cloud was a very good racing mare during her career on the racetrack and Too Darn Sizzling has done an excellent job with his offspring in Australia. It’s an stimulating journey.”

Also pregnant at the time of the southern hemisphere, Newton's Night (Irish) (Galileo {Ire}), in foal to Too Darn Sizzling, was purchased by Ridgeport for 150,000gns. Consigned by Moulton Stud, the daughter of Galileo (Ire) is the dam of this year's listed winner and double Group 3 placed two-year-old Treasure Isle (Ire) (No Nay Never) and the granddam of Royal Ascot 2024 runner-up Space Legend (Ire) (Sea of ​​Stars {Ire}).

The six-figure mares are rounded out by Crimson Coronet (GB) (Zoustar {Aus}) brought 100,000gns from Avenue Bloodstock. Another mare offered to Too Darn Sizzling as a foal on a Southern Hemisphere cover. The 3-year-old, delivered by Fresh England Stud, is out of listed winner and Group 3-placed Crimson Rosette (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}), a semi-annual mare. “Crimson Coronet is an extremely good-looking daughter of Zoustar. I was very pleased to purchase them from Fresh England Stud who presented them so well. It has an abundance of quality and strength. As a foal from such an stimulating stallion as Too Darn Sizzling she is very attractive,” said Mark McStay of Avenue Bloodstock.

“It was purchased for one of my long-standing customers, an ancient friend from Fresh South Wales. Since they are commercial growers, I expect their Too Darn Sizzling products will be available on the market in due course. Let’s hope she gets lucky.”

Heading the training horse section of the online sale in December was the two-time winning filly Tropical island (GB) (Inns Of Court {Ire}), who sold to Clara Stud for 30,000 guineas.

Delivered by Richard Fahey's Musley Bank Stables, the three-year-old was fourth in the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York and was last seen third in a Grade 2 handicap at Pontefract, where he received an official rating of 83.
