When breeders and buyers descended on Deauville for the Arqana December sale two years ago, many made a compact drive to the Chehboub family's newly opened Haras de Beaumont, located on part of the former Haras du Quesnay estate, to see the double Group 1 to inspect winner Sealiway (Fr) (Galiway {GB}). Last year it was a similar story as visitors dropped by to see the three-year-old champion and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, Ace Impact (Ire) (Cracksman {GB}), and this year they will be back to visit one another recent entry in the G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Puchkine (Fr) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}).
At this year's December auction, the company will open another recent chapter with the launch of the Haras de Beaumont collection. Beaumont has six mares and fillies in training cataloged for upcoming sales, including three mares in foal from Beaumont-based stallions as well as Group 3-winning, Group 1-placed Daylight (Fr) (Earthlight {Ire}) and G2- Winner Classic Blume (GB) (chalice).
Pauline Chehboub was on site in Arqana on Thursday morning, overseeing the first buyers beginning their rounds of inspections.

“After all, we are not a buyer,” she said with a smile. “We are a provider, that changes a lot. It is stimulating for us to promote our stallions Sealiway and Ace Impact. If you are lucky enough to have Daylight and Classic Flower as horses in training, we want to associate Haras de Beaumont with superstars like them, so that's very stimulating. I love meeting people and horses from all over the world here.”
Daylight, sold as lot 178, is at the top of Beaumont's list. The two-year-old daughter of Earthlight is out of listed winner Latita (Fr) (Silver Frost {Ire}) and was a winner on debut in May for Gousserie Racing and Sandrine Gavrois. She later became her first-time sire's first winner when she scored points at that year's G3 Prix de Cabourg. The filly also took three Group outings this year, including a second place finish in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes.
Beaumont will be represented by another filly, Classic Flower, who still has a lot of racing ahead of her. Also campaigned by Gousserie Racing in collaboration with Jean-Etienne Dubois, the daughter of Calyx was a winner on her debut last April and concluded her junior season with a result in the G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte. This year, at three, she finished second in two Group 3 starts. Classic Flower, who comes from the same family as Group 2 winner Beshaayir (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}), is sold as lot 191.
“We have two really top-class racing mares in Daylight, who are among the best two-year-olds in Europe this year – and I'm sure there will be many more next year as a three-year-old – and Classic Flower, who is a first-class was two years aged and continued at three years aged,” said farm manager Mathieu Alex. “We have been asked to sell horses and we are very pleased that it is a quality consignment. I think it's significant for a farm like us to be present and present at the sale. The great thing about selling and selling horses is that you get to meet a lot of people.”
Alex pointed out some of the show's other stars being sold during Saturday's opening session, including Tigrais (Fr) (Outstrip {GB}), selling as lot 156, and Rosir (Fr) (Style Vendome {Fr}), which sold as lot 222 and Near Amore (German) (Amaron {GB}), sold as lot 107.
“Tigrais is a very, very good looking mare,” said Alex. “She is a juvenile mare who was only bred for the first time this year [but not in foal at the time of sale]and she is a Group 3 winner at two years aged, which is stimulating. We also have a mare called Rosir who is a half-sister to Rougir (Territories{Ire}), a Group 1 winner who (Sumbe) raced and sold here a few years ago. Near Amore is a mare who is a stakes foal to Ace Impact, so that’s stimulating too.”

Alex said he had high hopes of a similarly lucrative market for sellers in France based on the results of breeding stock sales in England and Ireland.
“Obviously Tattersalls and Goffs has been very, very mighty all year with foals, yearlings and now mares, so we're hoping Deauville will be very mighty too,” he explained. “I feel like there’s a very, very mighty catalog on day one, so why not?”
Alex added that a yearling haul may be on the agenda at Beaumont at some point in the future.
“It is arduous to know exactly when, but we will try to be back here with top quality horses,” he said.
Looking ahead to 2025, Chehboub and the rest of the Beaumont team will be busy with their largest ever squad of five stallions, including recent signing Puchkine, nominated for €8,500.
“In our business we have to have a recent one every year, so we have done a lot in three seasons and want to continue to support our stallions,” Chehboub said. “We have committed customers and a good team and hope it will be a good season.”
