2025 PRAKENSE profiles: Lexington Stakes winner Gosger

Welcome to 2025 Triple Crown Prospees Profiles, in which we will take a look at the US Classics Trail every week on a winner with the focus of this week on the 150 with the focus of this weekTH Preakness Stakes May 17th in Pimlico.

The field for the 1 3/16 miles forwarding will be completed on Monday evening and one of the fresh shooters that do not compete with the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve will be the focus of this week. Let's take a closer look at Gosger, a winner of two lengths of the 400,000 dollar stonestone Lexington Stakes on April 12th on the Keeland Race Course.

Racing overview: Gosger still led a bad race in three starts. He had a behind schedule start to his career and debuted on December 14, 2024 in a sprint in the Gulfstream Park and gathered in second place. The Nyquist Colt then pressed the pace when he stretched to a mile in the Gulfstream Park and won 1 ½ length on February 15 in his first race.

Gosger took a significant step forward in his third start, which was his first attempt against the Stakes competition in the Lexington Stakes. Gosger got a dream trip to track the pace while he saves the ground behind a moderate political fractions under Irad Ortiz Jr., entered a few ways to the outside in Keeland and set up two lengths to win with two lengths. It ended much faster than in his previous victory and completed the last three mile in: 37.62 and the last Furlong in: 12.88. This is a really positive sign for a 3-year-old in his third start.

Speeds: While the winning of Lexington Stakes was a massive leap in class, the result did not lead to an improvement in speed figures. Gosger improved from a 73 Beyer Speed figure for his career debut to 88 for his first win in February and essentially combined him with an 87 for the Lexington Stakes. Its equibase line is very similar 80-94-96. Maybe that's not a bad thing for the prevention, since Gosger could (and should) rest at five weeks in his third start of the year.

Running style: There are several speed horses in the prevention and a few runners outside the pace. Probable favorite journalism is a stalker like Gosger, and both (together with River Thames) could benefit from an ideal journey in the immediate vicinity and far from the blows. The Dream Trip, which Gosger benefited in the Lexington Stakes, could repeat Luis Saez in Up-to-date Jockey.

Pedigree notes: Gosger comes from the fifth harvest of the Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist 2016, the father of the 2-year-old Stutmeister for Immersives and Vequist, together with several first class winners by two rounds as randomized, slowed Andy and Johannes.

Gosger was produced by the Unlaced Tapit Mare Gloria S. Tapit. Gloria s is also half a sister (the same dam [mother]other father [father]) I will have another Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner.

There is a lot of lessons and endurance in this family tree.

Preakness potential: Gosger is not quick enough on paper to win the prevention inserts, but he can improve in the fourth start of his career. Regardless of whether an vital step is sufficient to make it a winning candidate, the key question is.

I think there is a considerable unused potential in Gosger, he could go on a dream trip in the prevention, and I think it is built for the 1 3/16 miles distance. I don't think he's good enough to beat Kentucky's second journalism when he brings his “A” game (or even B+) with him, but I think he could round off the exact review in the prevention. That would be a damn result for a 3-year-old in his fourth race.
