2025 Matings plans: Noreland's stud

The Noreland's stud has been in the McCalmont family since 1912 and in the past ten years alone the stud with the classic winning power (IRE), Magna Graecia (IRE) and Starks Basilica (FR) has been associated with one of the best kindergartens in Ireland.

When Hamish went through the mating plans of Noreland's Stud from 2025, he explained how the selection of the right stallion is often worked together for a mare, since many mares belong in partnerships, explained how the outfit uses data and statistics to produce the classic winners of the future.

He said: “Many mares on the farm are owned in partnerships with other birds, and therefore the decisions are made together. But our philosophy has stayed the same over the years-we would like to continue to apply the proven classics with medium distance. We have always focused on it because many of the best races worldwide are over classic distances and there is a enormous market for horses with medium distance worldwide if they are good enough and nice enough.

“We particularly like to apply proven middle classes with younger mares to get a black type in the first few foals, as a enormous part of the black races are over longer distances and a lot of time that can also be smaller fields.”

McCalmont added: “When choosing stallions, we look at nicks and back family crosses, but physical properties are very critical to us and like a stallion with a mare. Our broodmare band is unusually juvenile, partly of design, but also many of our older mares have been retired in recent years or died at the same time. Hopefully some of these juvenile mares will come out and prove themselves in the next few years. “

Amenette (Irish), 10, Power (GB) -amenixa (FR), from Linamix (FR). Covered by Camelot (GB).
She is the mother of thrilling Sir Dinadan (Irish) (Camelot {GB}), who has a derby entry. It is sterile, but was covered by Camelot. We drove this stut foal with Joseph O'Brien and she comes from an ancient family from us. It is a tiny, powerful stut foal and is suitable for the classic type of Camelot.

Atlantis (GB), 6, Sea the Stars (Irish) – Alla Speranza (GB) by Sir Percy (GB). Go too damn warm (GB).
She just had a nice novel Bay (GB) Stutfolen and is too damn warm (GB). This pairing should give a wonderful family that contains Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}).

Cava (Irish), 9, acclamation (GB) -Royal Fizz (Irish), from the Royal Academy. In foals to ses the stars (IRE). Goes to Auguste Rodin (IRE).
Another foal that we drove with Joseph O'Brien. She reached a good rating of 100 on sprint trips and secured the black type as a two -year -old, third in group 3 in the Curragh third. It is a pretty good family that contains another knowledgeable sprinter that we bred in Hitchens (IRE) (acclamation {GB}). She has already produced the talented Caviar Heights (IRE) (Sea the Stars (Irish}) from her first foal and she is back in the foal to see the stars (IRE) at sea. We are very much looking forward to sending her to Auguste Rodin (IRE). We think it is exceptionally a good price performance ratio.

Cercle d'Or (ire), 11, acclamation (GB) – Flech d'Or (GB), by Dubai Destination. Go to Blue Point (IRE).
She has a Maurice (JPN) yearlings Colt in the Inglis Oster Sale and a two -year -old Frankel (GB) futs who trains with Gai Waterhouse. She just had a handsome Lope de Vega (IRE) Stutfo foals up here, which is a full sister of Ozara (IRE), a winner of some races in America. We will probably keep the Lope de Vega and train you with the partners involved in the mare. Cercle d'Or will go to Blue Point (IRE) and the shameard line has worked well with the family.

Climate (IRE), 7, Australia (GB) – Fratch (Irish), from Inchinor (GB). Go to Wootton Bassett (GB).
We had a climate in training with Jessica Harrington and she reached an evaluation of 106 without getting a black type. It is made of frappe (ire) (inchinor {gb}), who is one of the best families of the farm and is therefore a sister of power (GB) and curvig (GB) (Galileo {ire}). Both horses won the races of Group 1. The climate was the last foal from Frappe and it was a good racing mare herself. She has a Lope de Vega Colt Yearling, is in foals to Blue Point and will go to the Wootton Bassett. Curvy produced a good horse of Wootton Bassett called Banket (ire) and her close relationship Emerald Green (GB) (Galileo {ire}) produced green effects (IRE) (Wootton Bassett (GB}), which was actually born on the farm for Marc Chan when he was born – he was an absolute animal and he seems to be derby this year. So that is very thrilling.

Flech d'Or (GB), 19, Dubai Destination -Nuryana (GB), from Nureyev. In Fohlen to Modern Bay. Go to Camelot.
Obviously, Flèche d'Or is the dam of Golden Horn (GB) and Cercle d'Or the only daughter that we have from the mare. We had a sea that the star FUT, the Chalice (Irish) from Flechen d'Or called Chalice called named, broke one leg on the gallops. We really want to get another foal out of the mare and send them to Camelot. She has already produced a derby winner and Camelot is a real stallion that can produce derby and OAKS winners. Camelot is one of the best stallions in the world and we think that he only really gets going. Personally, I have always been a massive fan of Camelot and even at € 75,000 we think that he still has a good price -performance ratio. I mean, there are many very good stallions with him up there, which are twice as high.

Tip from Pink (Irish), 13, Teofilo (Irish) – fragrance (IRE), from Singspiel (IRE). Goes in Modern Bay.
She has an invincible stut foal (from) that goes to Inglis Easter, and she also had a Wootton basset foals behind schedule in Australia. That's why we decided to send them here. She goes in Modern Bay. Her sister Choisya (GB) (night of thunder (Irish}) recently won two races of group 2 in Meydan. We think that the Dubawi (ire) line will work well and another foal from her.

Crimean Queen (GB), 9, IFFRAAJ (GB) -Victoria Cross (IRE), by Markus von appreciation (IRE). The stars in foals to sea and return to him.
The dam of the thrilling seafarer (Irish) (Sea the Stars {IRE}), which is in training with Ralph Beckett and is entered in the derby. It is in the foal to be the stars and will return to him.

Fate Unbound (Irish), 9, Galileo (Irish) – like a lady (GB), by Danehill. Go to Lucky Vega (IRE).
This mare is pretty captivating. We bought them quite behind schedule in sales in Keeland in January. It is from Galileo (ire) and her first foal was placed in class II. She is in foals by Jack Christopher and we actually managed to pick them up for $ 38,000, which we considered great value to be of great value. Jack Christopher was a champion sprinter in America and although the people here in Europe are not too familiar, we thought that the mare was a great value. We will break down along the Storm Cat line, so she goes to Lucky Vega. He made a very good start in Australia and we booked him a nomination to him last month. Obviously it's a bit of a punt, but every year you have to take a stallion a punt to compensate for the books, and we believe that Lucky Vega is a good opportunity.

Moorside (GB), 12, Champs Elysees (GB) – Marching West, from Gone West. Go to the night of thunder (IRE).
Moorside comes from a handsome Juddmonte family and finished second in the Cheshire Oaks. She is the mother of Ghostwriter (IRE) (Invincible Spirit {ire}). She has a two -year -old stut foal in Australia (GB) that we will run and was covered by Thunder (IRE) just in the night. Australia is another father that we believe that it is only an extraordinary value.

There is the door (Irish), 5, StarspangLedbanner (from) -Calisto -Star (Irish), from Fastnet Rock (from). GOS on Wootton Bassett.
Just like Moorside, she was second in the Cheshire Oaks. It is not very substantial, so she will fit Wootton basset. We find it really challenging to get danhill line mares in Europe now, and we really wanted to buy them when she was sold last year at Tattersalls [cost 125,000gns]. Her mother is also quite juvenile and she is an thrilling mare for the future.

Vedissa (FR), 4, See the stars (IRE) –Vedouma (FR), by Dalakhani (IRE). In the foal to Galiway (GB). Go to Charyn (IRE).
Vedissa has a seat in Ehrham and the plan for her is to go to Charyn (IRE). It would not be our usual game, but we were massive fans of Charyn as a racehorse and he was a miler we like. We are obviously also substantial fans of Dim Angel (IRE) and held shares in Acclamation (GB) when he was at Rathbarry Stud. Sons of the acclamation – Mehmas (Irish), gloomy angels etc. – have to win this will, and Charyn also had that, so we wanted to apply it. We love the stars as a breeder father and have collected some mares of him in recent years. It also seems to work well with sons of the acclamation.

Sans Voix (GB), 4, Saxon Warrior (JPN) -Blarney Stone (IRE), by Peintrre Celebre. The stars go to sea.
We bought it from Arqana for € 200,000 in December. She is a stut foal used with Saxon Warrior (JPN) and it is planned to go to sea with her.
