Welcome to the Kentucky Derby Prospection's profiles, where we can see every week on a winner on the way to the Derby Time Plan, the qualification points for the 1 ¼ miles-classic race on May 3, 2025 in Churchill Downs.
This week we will accuse ourselves of Burnham SquareThe winner with a nose of the 1.25 million US dollar Toyota Blue Grass Stakes on April 8 in Keeland. The Map Wallach from Bay Liam received 100 points for the qualification for the Kentucky Derby 2025 presented by Woodford Reserve and took first place on the way to the Kentucky Derby ranking with a total of 130 points.
Racing summary: Burnham Square was beaten by less than one length in each of its first two starts in October and November 2024. He won the first victory of his career on December 28, 2024 in the Gulfstream Park with a nine long Tummel, which announced 1 1/16 miles with a hype with 1 1/16 miles and five weeks later Burnham Square. Among the horses he defeated that day was the future Curlin Florida Derby, which was presented by Hill 'n' Dale Farms in the Xalapa winner Tappan Street.
The Burnham Square was the favorite in the Coolmore fountain of the youth missions at his next start in Gulfstream, but it was handed over by the sovereignty of the winner in the last round and never threatened in the race, although he was willingly finished and only three lengths.
Nevertheless, Burnham Square needed an improved effort in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes to secure a place in the Kentucky Derby, and he came through with a last rally to catch the Pacesetter East Avenue in the final steps and win with one nose.
The map of the Liam went well in all six starts, with three wins, two losses by less than one length and the well of the youth field. He is a very straightforward 3-year-old who achieves a first class victory.
Speeds: The Burnham Square took a nice step forward in relation to the speed figures in the Blue Grass Stakes and received a career best 96 Beyer-speed number, a five-point boost and a 104-equibase speed number, a up-to-date 10-point career. The positive progression is a good sign, but Burnham Square has to improve again to meet the fastest members of his division.
Running style: The Burnham Square is a closer to playing its best run into the race, saving energy in the early stages and then using a continued rally over the last three-dubic mile or something. While this style in the Kentucky derby can be effective, such as Burnham Square such as Burnham Square and others, to ensure a fair pace and to suspend traffic problems, especially in an area of 20 hp such as the Kentucky Derby. It is very challenging to get closer if your impetus is stopped behind a fading runner or a horse wall that competes for the same properties.
Pedigree notes: The Burnham Square comes from the Maps Map of the Breeder 'Cup Dirt Mile 2015 from Unbridled's Song. Liams card also won the Woodward Stakes class 1 and took second place in the Whitney Stakes in 2015 at 1 1/8 miles.
The dam of Burnham Square (mother) is rated by Scat Daddy. Linda won the 1 1/16 mile woman Revere missions on the grass in 2016 and in five other missions at intervals from a mile to 1 1/16 miles. Burnham Square's Grandam (grandmother maternal side), handsome noise, was a winner of 2 class 2 with 1 1/8 miles on lawn.
Derby potential: The Burnham Square is entitled to closer to Exacta, Trifecta and Superfecta tickets as a derby candidate who was supposed to drive horses on the route of Churchill Downs on May 3. I have problems seeing him when he wins the race because there are several other conclusions that have a better speed figures and/or are finished faster. A typical example climbed the sovereignty past him on the way to win the Coolmore Fountain of youth. Burnham Square completed its last three-night mile in: 38.77 to win the blue grass. He was faster in the Holy Bull and completed his last three-dubbing in: 37.63 in this victory. If he can return to this type of tacting of 1 ¼ miles on the derby day with 1 ¼ miles, Burnham Square can create a top three-finish finish.
