Welcome to the Kentucky Derby Prospection's profiles, where we look at a winner every week on the way to the derby time plan, which offers qualification points for the 1 ¼ miles-classic race on May 3, 2025 in Churchill Downs.
This week we will accuse ourselves of American promiseA 7 ¾ long winner of the 527,500 US dollar Virginia Derby on March 15 at colonial core. The Chestnut Colt deserves 50 points for qualifying for the 2025 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve and takes fifth place on the street to the Kentucky Derby -Leaderboard with a total of 55 points.
Racing overview: The American Promise entered the Virginia Derby with just one win in eight starts and a few additional top three ends in Maiden races. His two previous attempts against operations competition led to a couple who were planned on February 25 on February 25 on January 25 on January 25 on January 25 on January 25 on January 25th.
The breakthrough of American Promise occurred in one-gym 1 1/8-mile virginia derby, in which he pursued the Pacesetter-GetaWay car from second place and was a challenge in a duel that was striking because he was a race horse when he was a tiny vacation. Of course, bigger is not always better, but in this race the American promise has proven best than the best. He sent the GetaWay car in 1: 08.39 to take over the command with a flash-fast three-quarters of a mile, and extended its advantage over 7 ¾ lengths on the finish line, while in 1: 46.41 he set up a up-to-date track record for 1 1/8 kilometers in 1: 46.41.
The Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, a four-time winner of the Kentucky Derby, explained the improvement of American Celebris: “This is a typical case of a horse that was in a growth spurt as he was, Great and Rangy.
Speeds: American promise received a career best 102 equibase Speed figure and 95 Beyer Speed figure for his Virgin victory on December 29, 2024 on a muddy route in Oaklawn Park. He matched his best Beyer-Speed figure with a 95 for the Virginia Derby and earned a 101 equibase speed figure for his first mission victory.
Running style: American Promise led the first victory from the start to finish and showed speed again in Virginia Derby when he drove directly behind the Paceesetter. He relaxed the father in his two earlier missions, but his best races seem to be close to the front, so I would expect to be aggressive in his breeds early.
Pedigree notes: American Promise is Triple Crown winner Justify, the father of the European Horse of the Year City of Troy and the US Champions 2024, only for their information in seven class or the winner of group 1 from three harvest times from 3 years.
The winner Tapit Mare Tapella is the mother (mother) of American Promise and Hoosier Philly, who won five missions, including a second class race, and the second place in Susan Stakes by George E. Mitchell with black rooms by George E. Mitchell. Princess Arabella of American Promise (grandmother maternal) won the Sunland Park Oaks 2012 every Saturday.
Derby potential: I have discussed many times in this blog and other features in Kentucky Derby that are not linear in the racing games. Sometimes they take the time to grow mentally and physically, and sometimes the lightweight bulb continues and they find out what is expected of them. I think it could be a combination of these factors with American promises. It is a well-bred stallion foal that achieves a very quick derby preparation victory with a high cruise speed for a Hall of fame trainer. He did not finish the Virginia Derby very quickly, but since he had a length in 1: 08.39 after six Furlongs, I am not so concerned about the last quarter mile in: 25.75 and final eighth in: 13.39. It is a fascinating view with a considerable upward trend, but it does not lack consistent. Lukas can either train him on the 1 ¼ miles kentucky derby on May 3rd or give American promise a last preparatory race.
“I don't know if I am good enough from now on to train him to the derby and achieve a good performance,” said Lukas. “I tend to run my horses regularly. They do it better for me.”
